[Motherboard] How to Install the CPU Socket Cover
Before sending your motherboard in for RMA service, reinstall the CPU socket protective cover to prevent the CPU socket pin from being bent or damaged during shipping. Please follow the steps below to install the CPU socket protective cover.

I. For Intel Platforms (Applicable to LGA 1851 / LGA 1700 / LGA1200 / LGA125X)
1.Before removing the CPU, press down the lever next to the socket, move it to the right, and then lift it up. Use caution when lifting the lever. Make sure to hold the lever with your hand while releasing it, as shown in Steps A and B in the figure below.

2.Hold the CPU retention bracket with your left hand. With your right hand, pinch both sides of the short edge of the protective cover. Attach latch 1 and latch 2 of the protective cover to the bottom end of the CPU retention bracket, as shown in the figure below.

3.As shown in the figure below, press latch 3 and latch 4 of the protective cover downward into the top end of the CPU retention bracket. You should hear a crisp “click,” indicating that the protective cover is properly secured to the retention bracket.

4.Lift the CPU retention bracket to the fully open position, as shown in Steps A and B in the figure below.

5.As shown in the figure below, gently lift the CPU. Place the removed CPU in a safe location, such as the original packaging, to prevent damage.

6.Close the CPU retention bracket, then press down the lever to lock the bracket in place, as shown in Steps A and B below.

7.The CPU socket protective cover installation is now complete.

II. For AMD Platforms(Applicable to AM5 Models)
1.Press down the lever next to the socket, move it to the right, and then lift it up. Use caution when lifting the lever. Make sure to hold the lever with your hand while releasing it, as shown in Steps A and B in the figure below.

2.Hold the CPU retention bracket with your left hand. With your right hand, pinch both sides of the short edge of the protective cover. Attach latch 1 and latch 2 of the protective cover to the bottom end of the CPU retention bracket, as shown in the figure below.

3.Press latch 3 and latch 4 of the protective cover downward into the top end of the CPU retention bracket. You should hear a crisp “click,” indicating that the protective cover is properly secured to the retention bracket, as shown in the figure below.

4.Lift the CPU retention bracket to the fully open position, as shown in Steps A and B in the figure below.

5.Gently lift the CPU. Place the removed CPU in a safe location, such as the original packaging, to prevent damage, as shown in the figure below.

6.Close the CPU retention bracket, then press down the lever to lock the bracket in place, as shown in Steps A and B below.

7.The CPU socket protective cover installation is now complete.
