What is a client?
In computer terms, a client is any device, like your smartphone, laptop or tablet, that asks for things from servers. When you use an app or a web browser to go online and look at websites, watch videos, or download files, your device is acting as a client. Let’s once again consider it in the everyday scenario of visiting a restaurant, where you order a meal. If the kitchen is the server, then you, the person eating at the restaurant, are the client. Your device asks a server for the information you want, and then the server sends it back to your device, just like the waiter (network) brings you your food.
So, a client is simply the device you're using to request and receive information or services from a server over a network.
